I guess my 'career' began with the launch of my first business in car detailing whilst still at College. Following the successful sale of that original business, I went on to be involved with and establish a number of other successful companies including a Satellite Technology Business and an I.T. Consultancy Firm. An Antiques and Art Centre and a Land and Property Development Group followed whilst at University followed by a short period in Estate Agency.
In 1995, I was approached by the Prudential Corporation to join their newly formed ‘Private Financial Planning Division’, and took the decision, that would shape the rest of my career to date, to embark upon a career in Financial Services. Following a fairly unremarkable start I found myself frustrated by the ‘employee mentality’ of a big bureaucratic organisation and he took the ‘leap of faith’ to return to my entrepreneurial roots and join a local IFA business led by Malcolm Kilminster.
During my time with Prudential I had established a client bank of mostly Business Owners and Senior Executives. As an IFA I sought to work with individuals who were looking for an entrepreneurial ally with a speciality in Financial Services and Business Management.
It was during my period with Malcolm that I gained exposure to Dan Sullivan's 'Strategic Coach Programme'. This programme and the concept of 'Unique Ability' would go on to change the direction of my future career forever. The Coach Programme, together with David Allen's 'Getting Things Done' concept continue to act as the bedrock of my daily life.
Understanding that my 'unique ability' was to act as a formidable 'enabler to entrepreneurial growth' led to me taking on the role of Malcolm's Practice Manager in addition to my own client work before later being appointed to the Board as Operations Director. Following the successful private placing of the main holding company I lead the formation, launch and leadership of the IFA group's network proposition. With my main role as Development Director I was responsible for the strategic growth and development of the business acting as the essential link to the true business for all Clients, Staff and Partners.
Once again frustrated and needing a new challenge I turned my back on my shareholding and in 2006 and took the opportunity to work alongside some industry leading figures Allan Rosengren and Julian Telling by joining Falcon Group PLC as Commercial Director and latterly Managing Director. Following the subsequent merger of Sumus PLC and Lighthouse Group PLC I was appointed Managing Director of the enlarged regulatory business leading the integration of the various acquired models,
Approached by the Sesame Bankhall Group in 2013 I took up the role of Distribution Director before moving to the role Managing Director to lead the Group de-risking and restructure programme alongside Chairman John Cowan. Having completed the Strategic Review and restructure, a new leadership team in place and the long-term commitment from Aviva the Group was well placed to moved forward on the next cycle of growth and development.

With SBG on solid ground I took a new opportunity in June 2017 with Quilter PLC owned Intrinsic in a newly created role of Group Managing Director and subsequently CEO, before becoming Chief Distribution Officer for Quilter PLC responsible for Platform, Investment & Advice - see LinkedIn for more detail.
